We support the local community in many ways. Local groups visit our studio for tours and demonstrations, and we visit educational institutions to share what we do. We participate in charitible causes through donation of our time and art. We support many local businesses and make our best effort to buy products and services from local providers. While we recognize people may not get everything they need from their local community, we feel that supporting local businesses when we can is one of the best ways to make to make our world a better place. Locally owned businesses significantly shape the unique culture that is Champaign-Urbana, and we are pleased to be a part of this culture. Donations: We have donated art work to many local organizations, including: GCAP, The Spurlock Museum, Parkland College, The Humane Society, The University of Illinois, Empty Bowls Some facts to know about artists and donations: Our donations of art work to charity/non-profit organizations are not tax deductible for us. Although most businesses enjoy direct financial benefit in the form of lowered tax liability for donations to non-profit organizations, this is not the case for us. Thus, while we would like to donate to all worthy causes, it is simply not realistic for us to donate the entire value of our services for all donation requests. To ensure that we can continue to maintain operating costs and support worthwhile charities, we are happy to honor a charity price program for charity auctions. This program allows organizations to pay a fraction of the value of a work of our art which can then be auctioned or sold off for a higher price. Some organizations already have this kind of system in place. GCAP for example, hosts a charity event every year in which 50% of the sales go to artists, and 50% to their charity. This event raises tens of thousands of dollars for their cause and for participating artists every year. If you are interested in purchasing a piece through our charity price program, please call for details. |
